Sensefuel Max includes a feature called “Search Home,” designed to enhance the user experience by displaying relevant suggestions as soon as users click in the search box—before they start typing.
These suggestions can include search terms, products, spotlights, shortcuts, and, if implemented, editorial content.
The feature is automatically integrated in Sensefuel's search layer (JavaScript Plug&Play implementation). If you integrate Sensefuel Search with our Discovery API, the Suggestion modules will enable you to build your Search Home experience.
The recommendations provided in the Search Home are powered by Sensefuel’s AI knowledge of collective user behavior and, when possible, personalized insights for recognized users.
Important Note for the Plug & Play Layer implementation:
Sensefuel provides a GDPR.JS tag that enables anonymous user recognition for hyper-personnalization purposes. If the user has not granted consent, this tag must not be loaded in the browser during their session. In such cases, the user cannot be identified and will not receive a hyper-personalized Search Home experience.
Visibility rules:
- Search Home appears only once per session (on the first opening of the search layer).
- It also appears when a user clicks the search box from a Product Detail Page (PDP), where suggestions are tailored to the product context and the user’s behavior.
- User Lifespan: the Time-To-Live (TTL) for a user is 8 days. If a user does not return within 8 days after their first session, their User ID is deleted. For more details about the User ID, refer to the dedicated section.
Different Search Home for different user profiles
Use case 1: The user is not known
When the user is not recognized, Search Home will display:
- Most popular search terms – covering a broad range of product categories across the catalog.
- Branded spotlights – highlighted with a pinned status.
- Event spotlights – highlighted with a pinned status.
- Shortcuts – highlighted with a pinned status.
Use case 2: The user is known, but Sensefuel does not enough about his interests
User is recognized but Sensefuel does not know enough about his interest, starts a new session, Search Home will display:
-
Search term suggestions (max 4)
Since the user is known, we can leverage their profile to filter elements and show only those most likely to interest them. Among the remaining elements, priority is given to:- The most popular expressions,
- Those with a high merchandising score (calculated by Sensefuel based on events captured by our JavaScript tag and/or events propagated to our Activity Tracking API),
- Multi-word expressions (to avoid overly generic searches).
- Products (maximum 12, i.e., 3 per suggested term)
- Branded Spotlights (dynamic, derived from the suggested terms. Up to 6 branded spotlights displayed, sorted by Promote feature and score)
- Event Spotlights (dynamic, derived from the suggested terms. Up to 3 event spotlights displayed, sorted by Promote feature and score)
- Shortcuts (dynamic, derived from the suggested terms, no limit. Sorted by Promote feature and then by score)
Use case 3: The user is known and Sensefuel knows his interests
User is recognized and Sensefuel knows about his interest, starts a new session, Search Home will display:
-
Search term suggestions (max 4)
Since we not only know the user but have also identified their interests, we can present elements tailored to their profile and areas of interest. We use interest-based clustering to scope expressions around their preferred topics. Within this cluster, priority is given to:- Expressions that generate the highest engagement,
- Those with a high merchandising score (calculated by Sensefuel based on events captured by our JavaScript tag and/or events propagated to our Activity Tracking API),
- The most popular expressions.
Use case 4: The user opens the layer from a product page
No matter if the user is known or not, if he is opening the layer from a product page, the search home will display the following, based on the visited product :
-
Search term suggestions (max 4)
In this case, we use both the product profile and the user profile (if the user is known) to present elements adapted to the search context and the user. Priority is given to:- Expressions with a high merchandising score (calculated by Sensefuel based on events captured by our JavaScript tag and/or events propagated to our Activity Tracking API),
- The most popular expressions,
- Multi-word expressions (to avoid overly generic searches).
