This feature allows you to influence the natural ranking generated by Sensefuel’s AI.
It is particularly useful to apply your commercial strategy on elements that the AI cannot naturally infer from user behavior alone.
Typically, any business‑driven data or context not directly detectable by our AI via behavioral tracking can be leveraged through Boosters or Strategies.
What you can boost or bury
You can use Boosters to prioritize / Strategies to prioritize or deprioritize for instance :
- specific brands,
- collections or campaigns,
- new products,
- discounted products,
- any attribute provided in your product feed, such as:
- margin scale,
- stock or availability indicators,
- off‑site performance data,
- custom business KPIs.
Important remarks
- ❌ No need to boost best sellers
Best‑selling products are already detected and promoted automatically by our AI based on real user behavior. - ⚠️ Boosting is not a relevance fix
This feature is not designed to correct relevance or search matching issues.
Relevance should instead be handled through search configuration (catalog data, dictionary, term extension, etc.). - 📌 Boosting by product ID has limits
Boosting products by their ID does not guarantee they will appear in the first position. Boosting influences ranking, but does not override all other ranking signals.
Boosters vs. Strategies
Boosters (Sensefuel Ignition)
- Available with Sensefuel Ignition
- Allow boosting only
- Boost is applied uniformly to all selected products
- Simple and efficient for global merchandising rules
Strategies (Sensefuel Max)
- Available with Sensefuel Max
- Enable both Boost and Bury
- Can be applied per product categorization (product_type)
- Offer much finer control over ranking behavior
- Can be set as:
- temporary (e.g. seasonal campaign),
- or permanent merchandising rules
Strategies allow you to precisely shape product visibility according to your commercial priorities, category by category.

Boosters and Strategies apply across all customer journeys powered by Sensefuel, not only search results, and not only in plug & play implementation.
They influence ranking and visibility on:
